Lopez de Heredia, Rioja Reserva 'Bosconia’ Tinto
This 2010 Rioja Reserva is the real deal having spent five years in oak barrels, followed by five years of bottle gain ageing, you find a wine perfectly balanced between rich red fruits notes and the vanilla, caramel and coffee from the Bordeaux oak barrels. If you can resist it, try decanting or leave the bottle open for an hour before drinking.
Lopez de Heredia is one of the most celebrated and iconic producers in Rioja. The estate was founded in 1877 and remains in the same family. They practice sustainable farming methods, but don't shout about it as for them these practices are simply normal.
