Coming from a tiny 0.37 hectare plot of 40 year old vines, the Chardonnay grapes are picked and aged in barrels for 15 months, providing a rich, buttery quality to the wine. Superbly balanced, the wine has aromas of white and yellow fruit followed by some vanilla on the palate, with a pronounced irony minerality lending depth and density.
Formerly a biochemist and physiologist Pierre Fenals set up shop in Burgundy in 2009, farming 7 hectares across the Côte de Beaune. He practices biodynamic farming, and specialises in 'lees aging', or aging with the natural yeasts. The upshot of this is wines with pronounced character and depth.
